On April 15th, 2015, science fiction and film writer Ib Melchior passed away.
Mister Melchior has contributed significant entries to both cult cinema and the giant monster genre, as he was the man behind the screenplays for ”Angry Red Planet” (1959, also director), ”Reptilicus” (1961), ”Journey to the Seventh Planet” (1962), ”Robinson Crusoe on Mars” (1964), ”Planet of the Vampires” (1965), and many other films and short stories.
His brief action-horror prose, ”The Racer”, would become the basis for the wonderfully mean-spirited sci-fi satire ”Death Race 2000” (1975).
And Ib Melchior was also the writer for the abandoned American version of ”Godzilla Raids Again”, ”The Volcano Monsters” around 1957.
To honor the man who's given us so many bizarre, but wonderful beasts, we’re officially bringing back our monthly art jam, by having a salute to any of Ib Melchior’s works.
Go ahead and draw any of the giant monsters he helped create, or any other fan art connected to the films he wrote. We’ll feature said pieces across several DeviantART groups, in and beyond Kaijuden, depending on the drawn subject at hand.
Just please try to keep said works tasteful in nature and execution.
The Ib Melchior art jam ends May 31st (a Sunday night)

CANCEL ECLIPSE
Okay, Eclipse isn't THAT bad and I plan to continue this group if the change over cannot be stopped BUT it's still a needlessly complicated and hard-to-work with interface compared to the original layout.
Thus I'm throwing my vote into this copy / paste / share campaign most other DeviantART members are doing especially since it appears to be a breach of DeviantART's original contractual obligations with the site's founder:
[JUST IN CASE someone accuses me of stealing an image that's purposely being copy and shared across this site from multiple people well before me: Please don't forget to also go inform like the 1000-and-growing other DA
We're Officially CLOSED Till MARCH Unfortunately
UPDATE: We're extending the closing till March but, regardless if the clean ups are finished or not, we'll be open fully in March no-matter-what. Sorry for the inconvenience but post-Christmas time suck especially for my personal schedule.
This group is closed for gallery maintenance and won't be accepting any new submissions until sometime in February. We'll update you in future posts.
Closing Down For Maintenance in 2020
Dear Everyone:
I'm giving everyone here the heads up that World of Monsters will be closing down in January 2nd, 2020 for maintenance as a lot of galleries and related image entries need to be rearranged or outright deleted due to the few less-cooperative-members not a hearing to the rules.
Also, it's just good to clean house for the new year.
We plan to re-open in mid-February.
Until then, we are open to any and all suggestions and questions for our group in the comments below and will do our best in replying.
Sincerely Enshohma
